Socially responsible efforts that make a difference.

As a leader in supply chain management, Exel has long recognized its social and environmental responsibilities. We believe corporate responsibility starts with the management of our own business: our approach to corporate governance, the environment in which we operate, the security, health, and safety of our employees and the public, and the ethical principles we practice.

We believe in the strong business case for corporate responsibility, and focus on initiatives that successfully minimize our impacts while bringing value to our customers.

A look at our recent community engagements:

Exel's Community Involvement program in North America tracked 1,500 volunteer hours and, with our associates, contributed $206,000 to non-profit organizations in the communities where we operate. This included a substantial contribution to the National Park Foundation, the result of a partnership with a key customer connected to the organization. A substantial increase in contributions is underway for this year.

The central Ohio area, home to the Americas headquarters in Westerville, is home to Pelotonia, a grassroots bike tour with one goal: to end cancer. You can be part of this effort as a rider, virtual rider or donor. Click here for additional details about this inspiring community event.

In cooperation with our parent company, Deutsche Post World Net, an initiative begun in September 2006 has provided both financial and logistical support to UNICEF. Two Exel associates were part of a group that traveled to Kenya for a pilot project distributing life-saving mosquito nets and medicines, assisting with immunizations and helping with renovation efforts. Another group will travel back to Kenya this fall. Employees have also contributed to their efforts, with worldwide donations to UNICEF generated so far totaling more than $187,000.

Exel contributes its expertise in many ways to improve communities where we operate. One example is in Akron, Ohio, where the local food bank was relocating to a new warehouse facility and was looking for help to design the most efficient layout. Exel's Integrated Logistics Design group provided voluntary consulting services to help them lay out their warehouse and to review their Project Management approach.
